Get the directory from a file path in java (android)

Is there a function to get the directory part of a file path?

so from

String a="/root/sdcard/Pictures/img0001.jpg";

you get

"/root/sdcard/Pictures"

Answer

Yes. First, construct a File representing the image path:

File file = new File(a);

If you’re starting from a relative path:

file = new File(file.getAbsolutePath());

Then, get the parent:

String dir = file.getParent();

Or, if you want the directory as a File object,

File dirAsFile = file.getParentFile();

How to get key position from a HashMap in Java

How can I get the key position in the map? How can I see on which position is “Audi” and “BMW”?

As other answers state you need to use a structure like java.util.LinkedHashMap. LinkedHashMap maintains its keys internally using a LinkedEntrySet, this does not formally provide order, but iterates in the insertion order used.

If you pass the Map.keySet() into a List implementation you can make use of the List.indexOf(Object) method without having to write any of the extra code in the other answer.

Map<String, Integer> map = new LinkedHashMap<String, Integer>();
map.put("Audi", 3);
map.put("BMW", 5);
map.put("Vauxhall", 7);

List<String> indexes = new ArrayList<String>(map.keySet()); // <== Set to List

// BOOM !

System.out.println(indexes.indexOf("Audi"));     // ==> 0
System.out.println(indexes.indexOf("BMW"));      // ==> 1
System.out.println(indexes.indexOf("Vauxhall")); // ==> 2

TestNG Annotations order

I have a question about the order of operations with TestNG annotations… I have the following code:

My question is, why is @AfterTest method not run after each @Test annotation? Does TestNG treat the entire class as the ‘Test’? It seems like this is the case because the @BeforeTest and @AfterTest are outside of the @BeforeClass and @AfterClass, but I wanted to be sure I understand. I assume I could use the @BeforeMethod and @AfterMethod in this case to execute before and after the test1 and test2 in this class. Thanks!

@AfterTest: The annotated method will be run after all the test methods belonging to the classes inside the <test> tag have run.

and

@BeforeTest: The annotated method will be run before any test method belonging to the classes inside the <test> tag is run.

How long ago did I load a page?

Is there a way to get how long ago a page was loaded using javascript, without having first recorded the time to a javascript variable on page load? I’m hoping to create a scriptlet (javascript bookmark) that I can run on any web page and have it output how much time has passed since the browser loaded the page.

All of the “time spent on a page” solutions I’ve found so far rely on recording the time when the page first loads, which requires either access to modify a site, or a browser plugin. Is there no document property that stores when the page was loaded (started, finished, etc.) which can be accessed in javascript?

Android E/Parcel﹕ Class not found when unmarshalling (only on Samsung Tab3)

I’ve been unable to resolve why this error occurs, and only on a Samsung Tab3 device, running 4.4.2? It happens when my MainActivity starts another Activity, and passes a Parcelable class in the intent like so:

        TestParcel cfgOptions = new TestParcel();
        cfgOptions.setValue(15); //just to verify

        Intent intent = new Intent(MainActivity.this, TestActivity.class);
        intent.putExtra("cfgOptions", cfgOptions);

    }

TestActivity gets the parcelable data like so:

For some strange reason it looks like the class loader isn’t set up properly.

Try one of the following in TestActivity.onCreate():


TestParcel cfgOptions = getIntent().getParcelableExtra("cfgOptions");

Intent intent = getIntent();
intent.setExtrasClassLoader(TestParcel.class.getClassLoader());
TestParcel cfgOptions = intent.getParcelableExtra("cfgOptions");

Bundle extras = getIntent().getExtras();
extras.setClassLoader(TestParcel.class.getClassLoader());
TestParcel cfgOptions = extras.getParcelable("cfgOptions");

Alternatively, wrap the parcelable into a bundle:

Bundle b = new Bundle();
b.putParcelable("options", cfgOptions);
Intent intent = new Intent(MDex.this, TestActivity.class);
intent.putExtra("bundle", b);

to get:

Bundle b = getIntent().getBundleExtra("bundle");
